Provincial Exports Growing
Iran’s northwestern Azarbaijan province has exported a whopping $285.7 million worth of products to 47 foreign countries during the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 20), a provincial official said. Sadeq Najafi, the secretary of the workshop to promote non-oil exports of East Azarbaijan province, told Fars News Agency that 265,964 tons of products were exported during the first three months.
“The export of industrial products worth well over $121 million, up 10 percent compared to the same period last year, was indeed unprecedented for East Azarbaijan,“ he added.
According to Najafi, other exported goods included foodstuffs, petrochemical products, various kinds of metals, stone and mining industry products, carpets and handicrafts.
Najafi, who also heads the provincial Trade Organization, said the products were exported mainly to Iraq, France, Turkey, Germany, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, Lebanon, the UAE, Romania, Sudan, Afghanistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Congo, Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, Armenia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Cyprus, Venezuela, Djibouti, Sweden, Finland, Turkmenistan, Italy, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Great Britain, Syria, Hungary, India, Spain, Yemen, Bahrain, Sierra Leone, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium and the South African Republic.
In conclusion, he said the non-oil exports of the province did not include technical or engineering services.
