Swiss Delegation Due
A Swiss delegation is to visit Tehran in August to continue talks with Iranian officials on technical issues concerning gas export to that country, National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC)’s manager for pipeline projects said.
Switzerland’s Elektrizitaets-gesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL) signed a 25-year deal with the National Iranian Gas Export Company for the delivery of 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
“The two sides have come to terms on the contract’s pricing formula but some factors are yet to be finalized,“ Mir Taqi Sarrafi told PIN.
He noted that the gas will be delivered at the Bazargan border and added, “Swiss authorities should attain Turkey’s permission for gas transit by the end of the current year.“
Sarrafi noted, “Based on this contract 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be exported annually to Switzerland in the first phase and between 2 and 4 billion cubic meters will be exported in the second phase.“
National Iranian Gas Export Company aims to raise delivery to five billion cubic meters annually by 2012.
