Geographical situation of the province :
The province of Semnan covers an erea of 96816 square Kilometers from east it goes to khorasan from north to mazandaran and golestan provinces . to the west Tehran and Qum province . The township of the province are include : Semnan ,Dameghan , Shahrood and Garmsar , the center of province , Semnan , with 100000 population is located 220 km from the capital and distance with international waters of Persian gulf and Caspian sea in turn is 1600 and 200 kms. This province include 4 townships , 12 districts , 16 cities and 28 villages.
Population of the province :
According to the latest statistic in 2001 , population of the province are estimated to 558,000 persons that 73.5 percent were in urban area and 26.5 percent were rural dwellers.
Historical geography of the province :
Semnan province was one of sixteen divided of Avesta in the ancient era whole of the duration for government of medes and achaemenians . This province accounted as one of the biggest state forpartians .This state had good development in Sasanian era.
Seman after the periods of Isalm was a part of historical regions of Ghomes or Komesh and this province was witness the wars, defeats and victories in the past .
The "Silk Road" pass in the middle of this province.
