Iranian Energy minister stated that in 2 weeks the privatization of the country’s power plants will be commenced.
“All of the subsidiaries of the Energy Ministry will be privatized by the end of the current Iranian year(started March 20),” Parviz Fatah explained while noting that gradually 80 power plants will be transferred to the private sector.
“At present the privatization of 10 power plants is being finalized. We have completed our part and it is now up to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs and Iranian Privatization Organization to decide about the rest,” he added.
He went on to explain that the private sector is constructing some power plants and said, “Currently the private sector generates 3000 MW of electricity.”
