A Swiss delegation is to visit Tehran in August to continue negotiations with Iranian officials on technical issues related to gas export to that country, National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC)’s manager for pipeline projects said here on Saturday.
Switzerland’s Elektrizitaets-gesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL) signed a 25-year deal with the National Iranian Gas Export Company for the delivery of 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
“The two sides have come to terms on the contract’s price formula but some factors have not been finalized yet,” Mir Taqi Sarrafi explained, PIN reported.
He went on to note that the gas will be delivered at the Bazargan border and added,“Swiss officials should attain Turkey’s permission for gas transit by the end of the current year.”
“Based on this contract annually 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be exported to Switzerland in the first phase and between 2 and 4 billion cubic meters will be exported to the European country in the second phase,” Sarrafi said.
The National Iranian Gas Export Company aims to raise delivery to 5 billion cubic meters annually by 2012
