Tehran province ranks first in the country in production of flowers, plants and decorative shrubs, said the head of the provincial Agricultural Jihad Organization.
Sayyed Hossein Mohseni also added that some 1,600 hectares of lands in the province are under greenery, flowers and plant cultivation.
Tehran province produces 1.7 billion stalks of flowers, 12 million decorative shrubs and 110 million seedlings every year, he noted, adding that it also produces 10 million apartment flowers annually which has made it second in the field.
Currently, some 11 cooperatives in cities and a provincial union are operating in the country which are engaged in producing flowers in all seasons given the demand of market.
