First Iran-Afghanistan fiber-optic project on line

Iran-Afghanistan first international fiber-optic project became operational on Monday.
Carried out in cooperation with the Telecommunications Company of Iran?s northwestern Khorasan Razavi Province, Herat-Mashhad fiber-optic project has been implemented at the investment worth over $1 million.
Governor-general of the Iranian province Mohammad-Javad Mohammadizadeh, called the project as a ground for accelerating development process in Afghanistan.
He also described the project a means of expanding the mutual cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan.
The governor-general further announced the projects of Arian Bank and a technical and vocational training center are to become operational in Afghanistan in the next couple of weeks.
Seyyed Hassan Anvari, the governor of Herat said in turn the project is an important step to accelerate connection between Herat and Mashhad.
The project is aimed at establishing the infrastructural telecommunication network between Iran and Afghanistan as well as Herat?s accessibility to the international telecommunication network.
